Ulrika Ekblom photographs for the love of colour, light and telling stories, real and imaginary. She is a photographer working mainly with food and everything around food, which includes travel, people, portraiture, nature, lifestyle, and interior. Anything actually. Ulrika has worked fulltime as a photographer ever since she got back to Sweden 15 years ago after studying photography in the United States (Corcoran School of Art) and Paris (Parsons School of Design). She makes images for magazines, Swedish and international, cookbooks (many of them published outside of Sweden) and advertising agencies. When photographing food Ulrika wants to compensate for the lack of taste, smell, texture in the image, visually. To make the food look as good as it tastes. She does this by carefully choosing the proper light, props, backdrops, locations etc. This is to bring back memories of tastes for the viewer of the image so the viewer can imagine how the food in the image tastes in real life.
